An ecologically friendly, eco-citizen site committed to protecting the environment.

European Ecolabel
La Grée des Landes is committed to promoting and respecting the sustainable management of the environment : using renewable energies, saving water, reducing and sorting waste, training our staff on how to preserve the environment, and providing environmental information to each customer.

The French Haute Qualité Environnementale approach (High-Quality Environmental standard for green buildings)
La Grée des Landes was ecologically designed in harmony with its immediate environment. The hotel is striving for HQE certification in health and confort. It has committed to ecologically managing energy, water, waste and maintenance.

BBC 2005, an official French label designating a low energy consumption building
La Grée des Landes is striving to consume 50% less energy than the thermal regulations currently in effect. By doing so, it hopes to help with the collective global effort to lower greenhouse gas emissions (Kyoto Protocol).

Carbone Balance®
La Grée des Landes calculates the greenhouse gas emissions created by its operations using the method developed by the ADEME (French Agency for Environment and Energy Management). Hoping to minimize its impact on climate change and to become as «carbon neutral» as possible, La Grée des Landes is already adopting measures
with regard to energy, transportation of people and products, materials consumed and food services.
The remaining, unavoidable emissions will be compensated financially through the Good Planet Foundation and its actioncarbone.org program.
Tourism and Disabled
La Grée des Landes is striving to make its premises and equipment accessible to individuals with physical, visual, hearing and mental disabilities and to guarantee that the special needs of all disabled individuals are properly met.

Refuge LPO – National Bird Sanctuary
La Grée des Landes protects the biodiversity of its premises by welcoming all wildlife (flora and fauna) and by taking eco-citizen initiatives. In close collaboration with the Ligue Protectrices des Oiseaux ( Bird protection league), it has committed to protecting and promoting its natural heritage through commitments spread out over a number of years.

Forest Clim
La Grée des Landes is participating in this European environmental pprogram by becoming a host site for forest species that bear witness to climate change. The goal of this five-year project (2008-2012) is to develop strategies for the sustainable protection and management of forests taking future weather conditions into account.

Butterfly Refuge
La Grée des Landes is applying the butterfly preservation charter in its 10 hectare landscaped park.
Monitoring Local Species
Because La Grée des Landes cares about preserving rare and endangered species of Breton plants, it is monitoring their presence on their premises as well as in the surrounding areas in order to help prevent them from possibly disappearing forever. It is also committed to respecting biodiversity by planting more than 2,000 local trees on its 10-hectare site association with le Conservatoire National de la Biodiversité Forestière de Guémené Penfao, a national forest biodiversity conservatory.

Plant for the Planet
La Grée des Landes supports this operation launched in 2007 by the United Nations Environment Programme.Under this program, the Yves Rocher Foundation -Institut de France has committed to planting 5 million trees in n3 years. La Grée des Landes is contributing to this effort by funding the planting of one tree for each Eco-Spa Hotel stay.
